It will all come down to ...- English idiomatic expressions # 35



Today we have a very good expression “it will all come down to (something) me/you/God or luck. “it” refer to result and “come down to” refer deciding factor, most important. So for example, last week I bought a lottery ticket and then I said “it will all come down to luck” so I would be lucky and God pick my number so I won the lottery so also I can say “it will all come down to God”. Because God or luck will decide to pick my lottery number but I was unlucky and I did not win the lottery.

Today we have a very good expression ‘to sell someone out’. And it’s mean to betray someone. For example, police have caught three men and one person sold diamond so police ask to one person. “Did you steal the diamond?” and person A say “No”. Then police ask to second person and then third one and all person says “No”. So in this situation everyone person selling the other person out; they are making a tough situation for other person; they are using the other person.
